As a White & Case 1L Diversity Fellowship recipient, you will participate in all aspects of our ten-week Summer Program in Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Silicon Valley or Washington, DC, including our Launch Your Career Program in New York. Fellows will also partake in our training sessions, ongoing mentorship opportunities, networking with our lawyers and social events. You will also gain valuable insight into what we do and what it means to practice law simply by working with and observing our lawyers. We know that timely and meaningful feedback is important to your professional growth, and you will receive feedback regarding your work over the course of the summer. A successful fellow will be invited to return to the Firm for the following summer. Our Diversity Fellowship salary is $4,150 per week.

2024 1L Intellectual Property Litigation Workshop

1L Intellectual Property Litigation Workshop

The White & Case 1L IP Litigation Workshop is a truly unique opportunity to gain an early insight into Big Law and the skills needed for success. This one-day immersion program will be held in the Silicon Valley office*, where you will discover what it’s like to practice intellectual property litigation at White & Case through panels, presentations and networking events.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Meet and shadow lawyers at different levels from various US offices and hear about their career paths into IP practice
  • Take part in an interactive training and group sessions
  • Collaborate on a case study with IP lawyers
  • Network with your peers during a social event

This program will allow you to discover what makes White & Case a unique and preeminent global law firm. Selection process—a successful candidate will possess:

  • A proven desire to pursue a career in IP litigation at a global law firm
  • A technical background or STEM degree (preferred, but not essential)
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to function as an effective and collegial team member
  • Leadership abilities

Our Houston office is seeking highly motivated individuals with excellent academic credentials, significant personal achievements and a strong commitment to the practice of law in a global and diverse law firm. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate evidence of our core competencies which include intellectual, legal and analytical ability, client readiness and maturity, and teamwork and leadership skills. We are looking for those with the ability to work collaboratively in high pace, high stakes situations.

Our Summer Program is tailored to make the most of your skills and ambition. We provide real work with real deadlines for real clients. In the Houston office, you will have the opportunity to work side by side with our lawyers in various corporate practice areas, as well as our growing commercial litigation practice. We want you to get to know our people and experience our Firm culture because these are the biggest indicators of what your full-time experience will be like.
